Last Saturday was our final Call to Action Promo day in conjunction with Vintage FM - and what a fantastic turnout we had!!!!

A HUGE THANK YOU to Electric Seconds at 205 High Street for donating prizes and giveaways in addition to our prizes and to everyone who came to visit us in the carpark near Electric Seconds, Aldi, Blockbuster, and Cold Rock Ice Creamery.

Keep and eye and ear out for upcoming events including the September/October School Holidays, Father's Day and Christmas.

Penrith's Christmas Spectacular - Santa Run for Charity.

Great response – over 200 Santa’s hit High Street Penrith for the Charity event.  Winner of the corporate team was Office Works – though we couldn’t find them to give them their winners plaque afterwards – I think they’d collapsed from the heat!!   Hope not – but we had some very sweaty looking Santa’s at the end of the race.

PCCA'S CHRISTMAS IN PENRITH

Christmas is nearly upon us and everything is in full swing here at the Penrith City Centre Association with plenty of Christmas activities happening in the CBD.

The outdoor Christmas Trees are being delivered on the streets on Friday 27th November, with the Christmas flags and decorations following.  The trees are always popular with the local businesses and shoppers as they help to create the warm Christmas atmosphere in the outdoor shopping area, and make the street scapes look more attractive.

Penrith will also see a bevy on Santa’s on Sunday 29th with Penrith’s Christmas Spectacular and the Charity Run, Christmas Street Parade and Free Christmas Concert.   This has had a great response from the local residents with over 150 entries so far and more coming in each day.  We’re aiming for over 200 in the Run and have extended the closing date for anyone who still wants to get their entry in.  We’re hoping to make this event a real success and are looking forward to continuing it in future years.

On Monday we have the Free Trolley Bus commencing, running around 9 stops in the CBD and operating from 9am to 4pm each day up until Christmas Eve.    Plus Mrs Claus will also be on the street during December, giving away sweets and a range of goodies to local shoppers who also have a chance to win one of 250 Gift Cards in our ’12 Days of Christmas’ promotion.  We’ll be drawing one winner each day for the first 12 days of December, and they’ll win a $250 Gift Card.  There’s still time to enter by just spending in one of our Gift Card participating stores up until November 30, to go into the December draw.

So there’s plenty happening here in Penrith for shoppers this Christmas.  I must admit I love Christmas but thankfully it’s only once a year ‘cause with only two of us working here, we’re already starting to feel exhausted with the organising.  Though Christmas drinks might help with that ….

Cheers!!

EXTRA PARKING IN PENRITH FOR CHRISTMAS

Customer parking is always hard to find in the Penrith city centre, but never more so than in the lead up to Christmas.  The Penrith City Centre Association will, once again, be organising a free Christmas trolley bus to help move shoppers around the city centre. This year it has also organised, in conjunction with the Penrith Valley Economic Development Corporation, to provide over 100 temporary car parking spaces for workers vehicles in an effort to free up more car parking spaces for customer.

The owner of two vacant car yard sites in Henry Street has given permission for PCCA and PVEDC to clean them up and mark out parking spaces to accommodate temporary employee parking.  The managers of PCCA and PVEDC, Ms Gladys Reed and Mr Bijai Kumar, said it’s a great example of how small business can move swiftly to address local issues. “It only took us a week to gain permission to use the site from the owner, to organise insurance, order all the necessary signage and to get the site cleaned up ready for line marking.  Everything will be ready to open up the site for worker’s parking on Monday 30th November which will be available through to December 24.”

Committee member Gordon Henwood took on the job of organising permission to use the site. Owen Rogers of Mul-T-Security and chair of PCCA, joined forces with Phillip Greuff from the ARCS Building Group to organise a voluntary crew from their businesses to clean up the site.   PCCA has hired a contractor to mark out the parking spaces as well as a security company to lock and unlock the site each day while it’s in use.

Penrith City Council has advised PCCA it is negotiating to provide some temporary employee car parking in other possible locations in the CBD and soon PCCA will be delivering flyers to local businesses advising them of all temporary car parking arrangements for the Christmas period.

More Santa's Wanted...

Santa_fun_run

We’re looking for more people to join up for our Charity Santa Fun Run on 29 November in Penrith.  We’re raising money for charity plus it’s a bit of exercise and chance to catch up with friends and have fun.   Penrith really needs a Christmas event in the CBD to kick off the season and get the community together; and we want this to be a great family day out for everyone!  So please help us spread the word .. or better still, join in the Fun Run yourself and then stay on for the Street BBQ, Street Parade and Free Christmas Concert.
